LUCERNE
Glacier Garden
A natural monument of national importance discovered in 1872, providing evidence of the Ice Age 20000 years ago (glacial potholes, etc.). A journey back through time leads from a subtropical palm beach to the glacier world of the Ice Age, with 20-million-year-old fossilized sea mussels and palm leaves on exhibit. Museum: multimedia show spanning millions of years and a large wall painting depicting Lucerne’s geological history. Glacier Museum: Switzerland’s oldest large-scale mountain relief, "Lucerne in the year 1792". Lovely park with picnic terrace, kiosk nearby. Labyrinth of mirrors: "... absolutely the finest mirror maze in the world today."
