Since 1998 the ancient Convent of Capuchins (1606) belongs to the Catholic Community of Sursee (Katholische Kirchgemeinde Sursee). It is used by the catholic parish St. George and by the city of Sursee. Inside of the buildung there is the museum of Swiss Capuchins since 1962 with original objects about life and history of Capuchins during the 16th until 20th century. Paintings, drawings, pastels, engravings, prints, lithographs, sculptures, statuaries and textiles are presenting the history of the Order of the St Francis of Assisi in Switzerland and of the Swiss Province of Capuchins (1581). The layout of the museum follows to the rule of St. Francis of Assisi. The objects refer to living, praying and working of the Swiss Capuchins inside the country – the convents, the hospices, the churches, the libraries, the colleges, study centers, the caritas (P. Theodosius Florentini and Rufin Steimer), the fine arts, the cooperated working with franciscan sisters (Capuchin Nuns and Sisters of Menzingen, Ingenbohl and Baldegg) – and outside of Switzerland in missions (Africa, India, Russia, America).
